There's a mysterious creature roaming the sewers and subways of New York. One subway worker has already been kidknapped by the creature and J. Jonah Jameson is offering a thousand dollar bonus to who ever gets an exculsive picture of it for The Daily Bugle. Doctor Curt Connors, a lizard specialist at Empire State Univeristy, also seems to have disappeared, has he too fallen victim to The Lizard?

Who is Spider-Man and how does Peter Parker always get such great photos of him for The Daily Bugle? Those are the questions J. Jonah Jameson hired Mac Gargon to answer. Unable to successfully tail Peter to Spider-Man's hideout Gargon agreed to undergo neogenic treatment adminstired by Farrly Stillwell to make him stronger and faster, but the treament transformed him into a monster called The Scorpion. Only wanting to be changed back into plan old Mac Gargon he kidknapped Jameson and fled to the radiation chambers at Oscorp. Will The Scorpion ever be normal again?

Who is controling the Spider Seekers tailing Spider-Man high above the city? As he changes into Peter Parker for the Hardy Foundation Fund raiser event, where he will be taking pictures for The Daily Bugle, he ponders this question.
At the fund raiser Peter's dance with Felcia Hardy is interupted by an imposter Spider-Man (who is actually Flash Thompson). Mistaking Flash for the real Spider-Man the Black Widow Spider Slayer kidnapps him. Will Spider-Man be able to save Flash before the master minds behind this scheme have him eliminated?

Peter nervously awaits Felcia in the hall of the Hardys' mansion before their date when a scream rings out. Too late Peter discovers that Felcia has been kidnapped by Dr. Octopus! After bargaining attempts fail with J. Jonah Jameson as messenger, giving Doc. Oc. a second hostage, Peter is able to convince the F.B.I. negotiaters that he is the next best candidate since as a boy he attend a science camp lead by Dr. Octopus, formerly Dr. Otto Octavius. Will their shared nostoligia be enough to overcome the evils Octavius feels the Hardys have put him through?

John Jameson, J. Jonah Jameson's son, unknowingly endangers the crew of his space shuttle when he discovers a sample of prometheum x on an asteriod and brings it back to Earth. A strange ooze hitches a ride as well and causes the astronaughts to lose control of the shuttle crashing it on the Washington bridge. Spider-Man rushes to save the astronaughts while the Kingpin rushes the Rhino in to steal the prometheum x. Their skuffle leaves Spidey in the Hudson river where he finds some truly unique pollution. Meanwhile, J. Jonah Jameson, acting on pictures of the crash taken by Eddie Brock, announces to the world that Spider-Man stole the prometheum x and a million dollar reward is on his head. A horrific nightmare leaves Spider-Man hanging and viewers as well. What does this dream mean and who will set Jonah straight on the whereabouts of prometheum x?

A new costume and it's possibilities sends Spider-Man on a power trip, but it also clouds his judgement. Three times in this episode Spidey nearly loses his cool: Once with Flash Thompson, Twice with Rhino, Thrice with the Shocker. Further analysis by Dr. Curt Connors proves that the new black costume is truly a symbiot attempting to bond permanently with Spider-Man! Can Spidey save himself from his new threads?

The sonics of the bell ring seperates Spider-Man from the symbiot, but it quickly finds a new host, Eddie Brock! Brock's hatred for Spidey turns him into the symbiot's new best friend as it is now angered by Spidey's rejection as well. Like two peas in a pod Brock and the symbiot form Venom and set off to make Peter's life misserable. Worse yet, since the symbiot had tried to bond with Peter it knew all his secrets, feelings, and weaknesses which it was all to glad to share with Brock. Can Spider-Man escape this menacing duo before it destroies him and those he loves?
